Showcasing their innovative projects and Research Studies, the school’s Senior High School students bagged several awards during the 1st Philippine Organization of Science and Technology Educators (POSTE) National Convention held at the Eastern Visayas State University, Tacloban Campus last November 5-7, 2019.
STEFTI was declared the over-all winner after excelling in the Research Competition, Academic Contests as well as in the Olympic games which were conducted during the event.
Student-researchers Kelly Nicole Quitalig and Emmylou Joyce De Guzman with their study, “Viability of Rice (Oryza sativa) Husk Ash as Tile Grout Enhancer” won the award for the Most Outstanding Research Paper and Best Research Paper Presentation together with their co-presenters, Danielle Mae Patrice Blanco and John Kyle Lluz.
For the academic contests, Jane Angelie Pelpinosas won first place in the Poster Making contest; the group of Danielle Mae Patrice Blanco, Chloe Andrea Creer, Cearlovey Granali won second place during the Science Quiz Bee and participants from STEFTI also ranked second during the Science Jingle Competition.
For the Olympic Games, Francis Ralph Bangoy and John Kyle Lluz bagged first place in the Bridge Making Competition. The top spot for the Water Rocket and Large Barge competition likewise went to the group of May Bien Gabrito, Jamie Lorriz Salures, Cearlovey Granali, Reinz Alfred Canono.
Other top placers were Chloe Andrea Creer and Emmylou Joyce De Guzman for the Egg Transport competition, Zaskia Oliva and Trishia Mariae Loteyro for the Paper Tower Contest. Danielle Mae Patrice Blanco and Desiree Inalisan ranked second during the Egg drop challenge.
Moreover, Zaskia Oliva and Reinz Alfred Canono were declared the POSTE Ambassadors of 2019 during the event. The winners were coached by Erickson Noseñas and Bryan Palita, STEFTI Senior High School teachers. The pioneering convention was participated in by students from different regions in the country.
