Grade School

LOWER PRIMARY (Grades 1-3)

The curriculum for the Grades 1 to 10 levels is adopted from the Department of Education standards, with added enrichment activities and programs. Our curriculum develops all areas of the student by focusing on the core academic areas – English, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Social Studies and Filipino – in addition to Music, Arts, Physical Health, Home Economics and emphasis on Christian Living and Values Education. This diversified program helps provide the foundation for life-long learning as students gain knowledge and develop skills that will help them to become active, valuable members of the global society.

The Lower Primary curriculum provides a strong foundation of concepts and skills needed for the later years. We set high but reasonable expectations of our First to Third Grade students to ensure that they will be ready when they move on to the more demanding environment of the Upper Primary program.

Our teachers are dedicated to the growth of each student and consider the different needs and strengths of the children. Varied assessment approaches are employed to ensure genuine and lasting learning for the students.

Daily class programs differ for the classes, and while there is a structured learning schedule, we also allow for spontaneous learning activities.

Note: We hold a school-wide Flag Ceremony at 7:20 a.m. every day. Students are strongly encouraged to attend this as part of their values and nationalism development. Those who fail to attend are not marked “Tardy” unless they arrive after 8:00 a.m.; however, student attendance and participation in the Flag Ceremony is given credit by the Teacher-Advisers.

UPPER PRIMARY (Grades 4-6)

In SY 2013-2014, the Upper Primary Department implemented the Dynamic Learning Program (DLP) which was developed by acclaimed physicists and educators, Drs. Christopher and Marivic Bernido of the Central Visayan Institute Foundation (CVIF) in Jagna, Bohol. This program has been adopted by the STEFTI High School Department since its opening in SY 2007-2008.

This teaching-learning program is activity-based and student-oriented. The program addresses the needs of different kinds of learners, and encourages independence and responsibility. The teachers do not “spoon-feed” information and learning; instead, they act as the facilitator of the student’s learning, allowing students to discover learning on their own. With the parallel learning scheme, higher order thinking skills are developed and fully enhanced.

Our teachers are dedicated to the growth of each student and consider the different needs and strengths of the children. Varied assessment approaches are employed to ensure genuine and lasting learning for the students.
