JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL (Grades 7 to 10)

The curriculum for the Grades 1 to 10 levels is adopted from the Department of Education standards, with added enrichment activities and programs. Our curriculum develops all areas of the student by focusing on the core academic areas – English, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Araling Panlipunan and Filipino – in addition to Music, Arts, Physical Health, Home Economics and emphasis on Christian Living and Values Education. This diversified program helps provide the foundation for life-long learning as students gain knowledge and develop skills that will help them to become active, valuable members of the global society.

We ensure that our students are ready for success after life in STEFTI. Junior High School is when the demands for academic, co-curricular and spiritual growth are more pronounced. As in all levels, there are guidelines for what students should know and be
able to do in the different learning areas.

Since its opening in SY 2007-2008, the High School Department has implemented the Dynamic Learning Program (DLP) which was developed by acclaimed physicists and educators, Drs. Christopher and Marivic Bernido of the Central Visayan Institute Foundation (CVIF) in Jagna, Bohol.

This teaching-learning program is activity-based and student-oriented. The program addresses the needs of different kinds of learners, and encourages independence and responsibility. The teacher does not “spoon-feed” information and learning; instead, he acts as the facilitator of the student’s learning, allowing students to discover learning on their own. With the parallel learning scheme, higher order thinking skills are developed and fully enhanced.

As students get ready to tackle bigger challenges and make more significant choices, we help prepare them to think independently and critically, and apply the Christian values they learn in school in their daily life. Our goal is to develop young people who confidently face the tasks of the world without compromising their values and principles.
Our teachers are dedicated to the growth of each student and consider the different needs and strengths of the children. Varied assessment approaches are employed to ensure genuine and lasting learning for the students.

Daily class programs differ for the classes, and while we do provide a structured learning schedule, we also allow for spontaneous learning activities.

Regular Schedule:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
7:40 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Wednesday
7:40 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
5th Wednesday
Staff Professional Development Meeting; No classes all levels

Note: We hold a school-wide Flag Ceremony at 7:20 a.m. every day. Students are strongly encouraged to attend this as part of their values and nationalism development. Those who fail to attend are not marked “Tardy” unless they arrive after 8:00 a.m.; however, student attendance and participation in the Flag Ceremony is given credit by the teacher-advisers.

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL (Grades 11 to 12)

The Senior High School (SHS) program covers the last two years of the K to 12 program of the department of Education and includes Grades 11 and 12. In SHS, students will go through a core curriculum and subjects under a track of their choice.

Senior High School covers eight (8) learning areas as part of its core curriculum, and adds specific tracks (similar to college courses) based on four (4) disciplines: Academic (which includes Business, Science & Engineering, Humanities & Social Science, and a General Academic strand); Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (with highly specialized subjects with TESDA qualifications); Sports, and Arts & Design. SHS Students may pick a track based on how he or she will want to proceed after high school graduation.

Our students undergo assessments to determine their strengths and interests, such as a national aptitude test, a career assessment exam, and an occupational interest inventory. They also undergo career guidance sessions to help them decide on the path they intend to pursue in senior high and eventually, in college.

Beginning SY 2016-2017, STEFTI offered a Senior High School program for our Junior High School students and for Grade 10 finishers from other schools with the following tracks, strands and specializations:

ACADEMIC TRACK

Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM) Strand
Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) Strand
Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Strand

TECHNOLOGY-VOCATIONAL LIVELIHOOD TRACK

Home Economics Strand (Food and Beverage Services, Cookery)
Industrial Arts Strand (Shielded Metal Arc Welding I & II, Electrical Installation and Maintenance, Plumbing, Pipefitting, Carpentry)
Information Communication Technology Strand (Computer Systems Servicing)

Our Senior High School program helps prepare our students for the future by strengthening the skills they will need whether they choose to opt for further college studies or put up their own business after Grade 12. To further enhance their leadership and social skills, the extracurricular programs offered in Junior High School will continue for the Senior High students.
