The STEFTI Administration continues to provide education to students in the midst of COVID19 through different online platforms due to the suspension of classes issued by the government.

On March 12, President Rodrigo Duterte declared the suspension of classes in all grade levels around the country to prevent the spread of the virus. The schools’ closure would also mean less opportunity for students to learn. However, STEFTI made sure that students are still learning even in their homes through online activities and submissions given by their teachers.

The school has also taken into consideration those students without access to the internet, handing out printed home works and activities and having them picked up by the parents in school. From the start of the suspension up to the supposedly end of the school year, the school has been monitoring for any updates coming from the government regarding any information on COVID19.

In line with the preparation for the upcoming school year, STEFTI will adopt a Blended Learning approach. This was decided upon by the results of the survey given to parents on what they would prefer for the coming school year. This allows face-face interaction with a combination of online-based learning. In online classes, the school will utilize a Learning Management System (LMS) where students are given specific tasks to accomplish each day. Face-to-face learning will commence once the Department of Education gives the go-signal.

The procedures for online learning are divided into two: One where both the teacher and student interact online at the same time, and the second, wherein the student will have access to the lessons prepared by the teacher at any time of the day. The adjustment to the changes brought by the pandemic is difficult especially in education where learning should not stop. Technology has made this possible through the different online platforms and STEFTI’s initiative to go online has made it easier to adapt. To this day, STEFTI continues to ensure that students’ learning is not disrupted despite the crisis our country is facing.
