First day of classes in STEFTI, done online, spells E-X-C-I-T-I-N-G!
With a little bit of anxiety, thrill, and fascination, STEFTI Theresians met their teachers online today, August 29, to start a new school year. The faces of the students showed mixed emotions: from anticipation for what is to come this school year, to excitement in seeing another batch of classmates, then to the eagerness to learn new concepts in the next level they are enrolled in.
Allow us to drive you onward to the different scenarios in school on the opening of classes.
The day started early with the elementary teachers huddling together along the corridors for their Morning Prayer then scampering off to their respective online classes for an Orientation.
Pre-Primary Department
The teachers had the chance to introduce themselves after the attendance of the class was checked. The pupils were also oriented with the classroom rules and were shown photos of the members of the Board of Trustees. These activities were interspersed with songs and dances to keep the little tots alive during the entire conference.
Lower Primary Department
The older pupils, on the other hand, started the sessions with Getting To Know You activities. Then the introduction of level teachers and Board of Trustees was done. A brief discussion about the class saint, Media Balance Guidelines, Classroom Rules and requirements were flashed on screen. The giving of a temporary schedule of classes capped the entire conference.
Upper Primary Department
Another variety of conducting the orientation was done by this department which started with a Hataw/Zumba after the preliminaries. Then followed the Welcome Message by the Department Head and the Level Coordinators. The pupils clapped in glee as they watched the Welcome Video of their teachers. Still keeping themselves glued to the screen, they excitedly played games in between discussions on Classroom Rules, School Policies on the wearing of prescribed school uniform, and subject requirements. The schedule of the first day of in person classes was also presented to them. The conference ended with a Closing Prayer.
JHS Department
The Junior and Senior High School Departments had their online conference in the afternoon. After the preliminaries and the introduction of the teachers and the school officials, a class adviser’s orientation was done. Here the advisers gave their expectations from the students, discussed homeroom rules and regulations, participated in an educational trivia about Wikang Pambansa and gave the schedule of the first in person classes on Sept. 11. In observance of the Buwan ng Mga Wika, the teachers wore Filipiniana as they faced their students. Finally, they were made to do the Student’s Profile before the session came to a close.
SHS Department
On to a more serious and scholarly mode, the parts in the orientation of the senior high students included preliminaries, presentation of the teachers’ profile, and the introduction of the course outline. In this part, the students were exposed to things that were new in terms of course offerings. The teachers discussed the course title, description and the syllabus (Most Essential topics/METs) to be followed during the new academic year. The students were introduced to the Grading System, the class schedules, rules and expectations, the requirements in the courses, and the guidelines as to how the consultation period will be conducted.
That indeed, sounded so serious, right? To break the monotony, the students were entertained by a brief getting-to-know-you activity entitled If You Were An Animal and were challenged by the Rebus puzzles given to them by their teachers.
The conference ended with a closing prayer.
