Twenty four STEFTI students competed in this year’s Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) held at the end of November, and 3 students won top prizes qualifying for the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) to be held in Luzon come February 2020.
Francine Faye Uyvico garnered 1st place for Sports Writing Secondary Level, Filipino. Anya Mari Lopera placed 2nd place in the Feature Writing Secondary Level, English and Mary Dwell Fronteras bagged the 2nd spot as well for SciTech Elementary Level, Filipino. The three students will represent the region in the nationals.
Other student winners in the competition were: Samuelle Jagonio (Feature Writing English Elementary Level, 7th place), Eliana Ibanez (Copyreading Elementary Level, 7th place), Kholey Cesar (Photojournalism Elementary Level, 7th place) and the Online Publishing Team (Filipino Secondary Level) group who garnered 3rd place.
The other participants were: Chad Cervantes, Haleema Kho, Avrille Manalang, Willinda Mendoza, Anne Naputo, Raylene San Vicente, Mark Valdez, Ashley Velarde, Alana Baltazar, John Lesiguez, Marianne Petilla, Danielle Ricote and Raven Rosales.
The Regional Students Press Conference is a prestigious competition for campus journalism for both private and public elementary and secondary schools in the region.
